Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates April 12th

APRIL 12th RESOURCES AND UPDATES:
 

COVID hospitalizations rose slightly to 4,118. Of the 131,436 tests reported yesterday, 4,926, or 3.75 percent, were positive. The 7-day average positivity rate was 3.20 percent. There were 860 patients in ICU yesterday, down 17 from the previous day.

APRIL 5th RESOURCES AND UPDATES:

As of Tuesday (4/6), all New Yorkers 16+ will be eligible for the vaccine (only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for those 16 and 17 years old). Scheduling for this age group will open at 8 am on Tuesday (4/6). Already eligible are everyone 30+, in certain employment sectors, in congregate housing, or with a qualifying underlying condition (full list here).

COVID hospitalizations rose to 4,434. Of the 150,225 tests reported yesterday, 6,583, or 4.38 percent, were positive.

MARCH 29th RESOURCES AND UPDATES:

Starting Tuesday, vaccine eligibility will expand to New Yorkers age 30 and older, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced today. And on April 6 the state will hit “universal eligibility”; all New Yorkers 16 and older will be able to receive the vaccine.

As of 11am this morning, 22.5 percent of New Yorkers have completed at least one vaccine dose. Over the past 24 hours, 122,778 total doses have been administered. To date, New York administered 6,699,848 total doses with 11.6 percent of New Yorkers completing their vaccine series.

MARCH 8th RESOURCES AND UPDATES:
 

New York will began administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at state-run mass vaccination sites last week. NY launched a new pilot program to begin administering the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine to eligible New Yorkers during overnight hours at the Yankee Stadium, Javits Center and New York State Fair mass vaccination sites.

JOHNSON & JOHNSON: This past weekend, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted emergency authorization for the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen single dose coronavirus vaccine in the United State for adults 18 and older.

New regulations on nursing home visitations will go into effect Friday, February 26. These full guidelines depend on a county's COVID risk level, and continue to depend on the nursing home facility being free of COVID-19 cases for 14 days.

Sunday, New York expanded eligibility to include New Yorkers with qualifying comorbidities and underlying conditions. And on Sunday NY saw the largest single-day registration total since vaccinations began: 250,924 New Yorkers made appointments at a rate of nearly 10,000 per hour.
